A Collector’s Guide To Alfred Cheney Johnston is meant for the discerning fine art photography collector. It contains over 600 images.

If it hadn’t been for the internet, specifically Ebay, Alfred Cheney Johnston’s work could’ve  easily been lost to history.  The owner of most of Alfred Cheney Johnston’s work that was left in Cheney’s Oxford, CT studio upon Cheney’s death, started to  list ACJ photos for sale on Ebay.  From those first listing back in the late 90’s, a following slowly began to build and grow.

From 1918 to 1932 Alfred Cheney Johnston was the official photographer for the Ziegfeld Follies. ACJ collaborated with Flo Ziegfeld to create the “It” girl of the Roaring Twenties Era, “The Ziegfeld Girl”  Because of his fame shooting the Ziegfeld Girls… Johnston was soon in demand for shooting portraits of the silent film stars of the day, the portraits of society mavens and for ad work for the print media.

This digital CD-Rom guide is made up of 6 seperate photo galleries:

Gallery 1 consists of  Alfred Cheney Johnston’s early work, commerical ads & celebrity portraits.
Gallery 2  contains four different series of fine art studio nudes
Gallery 3 consists of the piano nude series
Gallery 4 wedding portraits and wedding ‘themed’ nudes
Gallery 5 holds a beautiful artist and model series
Gallery 6 consists  of miscellaneous series

This price guide contains myraid of images.  If I have anything negative to say about this Cd-Rom, its that there are so many intoxicating images that ones visual senses can easily be overwhelmed.

You are not going to want to race through this guide. You couldn’t even if you wanted to. The sheer volume of images alone will force you to slow down and savor each one. It’ll definitely take you time to absorb the volume of information presented to you.
